Manolopoulos, Johanna

Johanna Manolopoulos was born in Bonn in 1959. She studied German Literature and Language as well as History in Berlin, Tübingen and Bonn. During her two long- term stays in France and Israel, she could make many intercultural experiences which have become very important for her art works. Since 1990, she has taken classes in Chinese Calligraphy and other forms of art.

According to Manolopoulos, movement- as one fundamental form for expression of life- has become the focus of her artistic work: topics such as dance in various cultures or the observation of the movements of birds, amphibians or sea animals and only recently the various forms of movement in the plant kingdom are the basis for her drawings. With respect to Asian Calligraphy, there is a strong coherence between lines and the areas within the lines, and all these together tell stories which in themselves remain in constant motion and lead to new experiences and reflections. In the paintings, animals, plants and human beings melt into a spiritual form of an intercultural dance in which the human beings as the most developed part of the creation play the important role to preserve the great variety and uniqueness of nature including mankind.

So far, Johanna Manolopoulos has mainly shown her works in Europe. LDX Artodrome Gallery will also introduce her artworks worldwide.
